Digital artist Jens Christian Wittig (JCW) is back in Ettersburg. Also present: his reinterpretation of the famous „Pückler Glade“.
Dauerleihgabe „The Glade – Out of the Woods“
Zuletzt präsentierte der Weimarer Künstler Jens-Christian Wittig im Herbst 2014 seine Digitalkunst in der Ausstellung „Urbane Transformationen“ auf Schloss Ettersburg. Nun, sieben Jahre später, hängt sein Werk „The Glade – Out of the Woods“ als Dauerleihgabe im Foyer des Schlosses.
Wittigs Bild im Großformat 140 x 280 cm aus der Serie „Motherland Scapes“ entstand im Frühjahr 2020 und interpretiert den Landschaftsraum von der Kuppe des Pücklerschlages bis hin zum Schloss.
Die Schneise – Der Pücklerschlag
Als Fürst Pückler-Muskau 1845 den Schlag im Forst Ettersburg anlegte, um dem Schlossensemble nach Süden hin Raum und Licht zu geben, bediente er sich dem Stilmittel der Landschaftsmalerei.
Der RAUM bildet auch für JCW zur Kreation von Bild und Landschaft die Priorität. Vorder-, Mittel- und Hintergrund sind harmonisch aufeinander abgestimmt.
Fürst Pückler gestaltete auch die Ettersburger Anlage mit den ureigensten, von der Natur abgeschauten Mitteln, in dem er die vorgefundene topografische Situation beibehielt und die Architektur der landschaftlichen Dimension seines Kunstwerks unterordnete.
Digitale Reinterpretation und Ambiguität
Jens-Christian Wittig greift diese Komposition kreativ auf. Seine Bilder verdichten und reinterpretieren Situationen, Orte und Stimmungen, Licht- und Raumsituationen. Die Schneise – the Glade – ist für Ihn gleichermaßen vieldeutig zu lesen, Ambiguität ein bedeutendes Mittel seiner Bildaussagen.
Permanent Loan „The Glade – Out of the Woods“
Most recently, the Weimar artist Jens-Christian Wittig presented his digital art in the “Urban Transformations” exhibition at Ettersburg Castle in autumn 2014. Now, seven years later, his work „The Glade – Out of the Woods“ hangs in the foyer of the castle as a permanent loan.
Wittig’s picture in large format 140 x 280 cm from the „Motherland Scapes“ series was created in spring 2020 and interprets the landscape from the top of the Pücklerschlag to the castle.
The Glade – The Pücklerschlag
When Prince Pückler-Muskau created the field in the Ettersburg forest in 1845 in order to give the castle ensemble space and light to the south, he used the stylistic device of landscape painting.
The SPACE is also the priority for JCW to create the image and landscape. Foreground, middle ground and background are harmoniously coordinated.
Prince Pückler also designed the Ettersburg complex with his very own means copied from nature, in which he retained the existing topographical situation and subordinated the architecture to the landscape dimension of his work of art.
Digital reinterpretation and ambiguity
Jens-Christian Wittig takes up this composition creatively. His pictures condense and reinterpret situations, places and moods, light and space situations. Die Schneise – the Glade – is equally ambiguous for him to read, ambiguity an important means of his pictorial statements.
