Jens-Christian Wittig ist über die Kunst, die weltberühmten und taktangebenden Messen (Art Miami Context und die Art Palm Beach Modern+Contemporary) nach Miami gezogen worden. Sein New Yorker Galerist Glenn Aber stellt ihn hier seit mehreren Jahren aus.
Vertraute Menschen und enge Freundschaften
Viele enge Freundschaften sind entstanden. Sie reflektieren den American Way of Life und die Überzeugung, hier kann man etwas schaffen, sich nach vorne kämpfen, hindurch durch alle Höhen und Tiefen. Offerten wie: „My house is your house as well!“ machen ihn stolz, mit dabei zu sein.

Bilder wie illuminiert
Wittigs Bilder wirken wie illuminiert (Are they backlit?) und von einer enormen räumlichen Tiefe. Diese Strahlkraft erreicht Wittig durch seine rauschenden Farben und Kompositionen ebenso wie durch die besondere Herstellungstechnik.
Verblüffende Farbkompositionen
Dem Künstler gelingt es dabei auch, die Gesetze der farblichen Tiefenwirkung außer Kraft zu setzen. Während auf einem Bild normalerweise die warmen Rot- und Orangetöne in den Vordergrund drängen, dreht er die Regel in einigen seiner Werke einfach um und rückt die kühlen Blau- und Türkistöne in den Vordergrund. Damit erzeugt er im Betrachter einen Moment der Irritation. Dieser hinterfragt sich und seine Wahrnehmung, schaut nochmals hin – und ist schließlich verblüfft und gefangen zugleich.
Bildschichten werden unzählige Male übereinander gelegt und immer wieder variiert. Ein Arbeitsprozess der ein paar Tage, aber auch viele Wochen dauern kann.
Das Schöne an Miami ist, dass wir uns gegenseitig unterstützen. Wir sind einfach eine große Familie, nicht nur die Künstler, sondern jeder.

Jens-Christian Wittig was drawn to Miami by art, the world-famous and trend-setting fairs (Art Miami Context and Art Palm Beach Modern+Contemporary). His New York gallery owner Glenn Aber has been exhibiting it here for several years.

Wittig’s pictures appear to be illuminated (Are they backlit?) and have enormous spatial depth. Wittig achieves this radiance through his roaring colors and compositions as well as through the special manufacturing technique.
Amazing color compositions
The artist also succeeds in overriding the laws of color depth effects. While the warm red and orange tones usually come to the fore in a painting, in some of his works he simply reverses the rule and brings the cool blue and turquoise tones to the fore. In doing so, he creates a moment of irritation in the viewer. He questions himself and his perception, looks again – and is finally amazed and trapped at the same time.
Layers of images are superimposed countless times and varied over and over again. A work process that can last a few days, but also many weeks.
